  3. What To Do if You’re Injured: Reacting to Non-Emergency Injuries

By 911 Pain Management | January 15th, 2024 | Pain Management

If you’ve been injured, you’ll need to start reacting right away to ensure that your health is protected.

Before you continue reading, check whether or not your injury requires emergency medical treatment. If you have suffered an emergency injury, seek immediate medical attention at the nearest emergency room or urgent care clinic.

If it isn’t an emergency, you can follow our guide below on what to do if you’ve been injured. If your type of injury isn’t on the list, a McAllen physician can give you the answers you need.

What To Do After a Fall

If you lose consciousness or bleeding from a fall injury doesn’t slow within a few minutes, you should seek emergency medical attention. For less severe falls, you can start by checking for injuries. If you don’t think you’re injured, you can try to get up. Otherwise, wait where you are and call for help. If no one comes right away, do what you can to keep yourself warm.

If you think you’re injured after a fall, you can respond using the RICE method: rest, ice, compression, and elevation. If your injury is causing you trouble or not healing properly, seek medical attention.

What To Do After a Car Accident

Not all car accident injuries will require an ambulance ride and emergency care. However, if you believe you were injured in a car accident, you should seek medical care as soon as possible. Car accident injuries can be more severe than they might seem, and getting medical attention will help prevent your injury from getting worse.

Immediately after a car accident injury, including bumps and bruises, you can follow the same RICE method mentioned above: rest, ice, compression, and elevation. For cuts, follow the steps in the section below.
